Frustratingly cute #32
The reason I haven’t written anything in the last few months is NOT because my lil darling has ceased to be cute. (!!!) There has been a lot going on, including cutie tripping and breaking a tooth, illness (winter sucks), sleep regressions, and learning how to walk. But mostly I’m just a very lazy person who didn’t feel like writing.
Until now!
Anyhoo.
Let me share some of the cuteness that’s been happening in my household lately:
Imitation. Honeybun regularly watches us getting ready in the morning, so he’s started practicing things like brushing his hair (with a comb, brush, phone, squeaky toy, …), putting on deodorant, getting his hair all styled up with gel, powdering his nose, and putting on lipstick.
Repetition. He was a bit late with starting to walk, but he’s just all the more enthusiastic about it now. Sometimes in the evenings when he’s tired, he’ll do his “rounds”. Starting in the living room, he’ll walk to his room, the kitchen, the bathrooms, our bedroom, and back. And then do it all over again. And again. And again.
Yesterday he ‘discovered’ that there’s a small step from the foyer into our bedroom, and he walked back and forth over it. FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES.
He has quite a lot of books, and I’m delighted to report that he likes to be read to! (This was not at all true a half a year ago!!) My dream has come true: My lil bugger will bring me books that he wants me to read to him! Now if only he didn’t want the same g****** book fifty times in a row… But he asks in such a cute way, I just can’t say no. Basically he shoves the book at me and says “Ah?” … Isn’t that the cutest?!
Tempter tantrums. Yeah. I can’t say that I enjoy them most of the time, but occasionally he’ll make such a huge fuss over such a tiny thing that I can’t stop laughing… Sorry hun.
Talking. He doesn’t really talk yet, but I believe that there is absolutely nothing cuter in the world than a little boy saying “mama”. Or “bear”. Or “cheese”. (Or as he says: “Cheesh”.) Or “ah-a-ah-a-ah!” (imitating a rooster). Basically anything. He also talks to himself, sometimes while he’s playing or when we’re out for a walk or shopping, but almost always when we put him to bed and he’s supposed to be falling asleep. I love our baby monitor just for letting me listen to that.
Bashfulness. Sometimes he’ll get all bashful and cute around certain people. Recently that’s included our neighbor, our favorite cashier, my dad, and the photo of a pretty lady in a shop window. Then three minutes later the photo of a different pretty lady in a different shop window. And lets not forget the drawing of an Egyptian queen in a kid’s book.
Lack of privacy. Ok, this doesn’t sound like it would be good. But just imagine you’re sitting on the toilet, and all of a sudden the door swings open and your little boy is standing there with a huge grin on his face, like he’s never been so delighted to see you his whole life. Then he walks up to you, squeezes himself between you and the sink and tries to close the toilet lid. You’d think that would be less cute, but it’s not.
Happy New Year! May our 2017s be filled with cuteness. And may someone invent non-fattening doughnuts. (Please please please!!)
